Please note that this event has been cancelled.

Create a beautiful intricate macrame pot hanging for your plant with experienced and innovative weaver and textile artist Alice Hume. Learn how to do wrap knots, half knots and flat knots. Experiment with recycled and ethical materials such as banana yarn and sari silks to add texture and colour. You can also incorporate flowers and herbs inspired by the Out of the Blue exhibition. At the end of the workshop, you will receive a virtual knot booklet, so you can carry on creating more at home.

Alice Hume is a textile artist and weaver based at Hotwalls Studios in Old Portsmouth. She has been weaving for over 11 years and graduated from Winchester School of Art. She has also studied textiles internationally at weaving schools in Sweden and Japan. Her work is inspired by her travels and different cultures to create copper moons, textile earrings and wall decor.

Please inform at booking if you have any allergies or hayfever, and wear old clothing. Sari yarn fibres can get attached to clothing and these will brush off. Participants will also need comfortable shoes. If participants wish, they can bring along any favourite flowers, herbs or plants from their garden and a pot or jar for the hanger. Participants will learn how to create an entire pot hanger from start to finish.
