Our regular comedy night at The Arc, Barnstormers Comedy presents a line-up of three top acts from the London comedy circuit and beyond: many of them Comedy Store regulars.
BRENDAN DEMPSEY
One of a handful of acts invited to perform at the prestigious Just For Laughs in Montreal, Brendan's festivalled Edinburgh, Melbourne, Adelaide, Kansas, Finland and The Cat Laughs in Kilkenny. He's played throughout Europe, across America, in Botswana & South Africa, and was the first comedian to perform in Qingdao China. He continues to gig all over the UK, in the far and middle east, in a variety of venues from the Comedy Store London, to Llyss Meddyg in Pembrokeshire, entertaining as many as 2,500 at the Lyceum Theatre for Bill Bailey's SOS Charity benefit, and as few as 32 in Bingley Yorkshire. Your children may recognize him from the BAFTA award winning* comedy-drama The Revenge Files of Alistair Fury, Your Grand/parents could remember him from the OAP cult hit comedy Waking Ned (Devine – US, AUS). You yourself might have seen him About Adam, briefly in Gangs of New York, or possibly one Christmas over the years in the Father Ted Xmas special. Maybe you spotted him performing his stand up on BBC, ITV, Channel 4, or RTE (Just for Laughs), or during the last two series of The Comedy Store on Comedy Central (formerly Paramount). If not you'll soon have further chances when Perriers Bounty is released later this year, or in Round Ireland with a Fridge next. Most recently he was working back in Ireland with Ardal O' Hanlon in his new sitcom Val Falvey T.D. Brendan's starred with Christian Slater in both record breaking West End Runs of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and is currently developing a comedy drama and a sitcom for television. Awarded a REMI for his directorial debut Barking Mad at the Houston Worldfest, Brendan worked as a writer/performer on seven different radio series for RTE.
Dan Antopolski
Message from Dan: Hello. After adventures elsewhere I am doing standup again, for love and of course for money. I am often good at it due to material, performance, face and finally limbs which express sorrow while I smile. These are both real and the effect is really something. As always I am pitting fear against inertia by believing I will do an Edinburgh show in 2023 and so far this is creating NEW STUFF in the familiar way. I like the new stuff, it is different to the old stuff except if you're not me in which case I guess it is the same. Such is art.
Spectacular displays of verbal pyrotechnics ... A confident, splendidly silly and sometimes dazzling show
Stephanie Merritt, The Observer
Joe Wells
Joe Wells' writing career began when his first book 'Touch and Go Joe' about his experiences of OCD was published, since then he has made a name for himself as a stand up comic, writer and speaker. Joe now focuses mainly on his unique brand of comedy. He also co-hosts a nerdy music podcast called 'emergency mixtape' available from most podcast platforms.
A star of the future... some of the most surprising and thought-provoking material coming from any comedian in his early 20s
The Guardian
As ever, MC Kevin Previous will also be on hand to oversee the proceeds. It's the perfect tonic to end the working week!
