Art for Enjoyment: Painting, Drawing and More (Autumn/Winter 2026)
Looking for time to get creative, try something new, or reconnect with art? Art for Enjoyment is a friendly and welcoming 5-week course designed for adults who want to explore their creativity in a relaxed and supportive setting.
Led by artists and tutors Paul and Victoria, these weekly sessions offer the opportunity to experiment with a wide range of materials, techniques and artistic approaches while building confidence and developing new skills. Whether you're picking up a paintbrush for the first time or returning to a long-forgotten hobby, you'll be encouraged to work at your own pace and enjoy the process of making.
No previous experience is needed. Our tutors will offer guidance, demonstrations and individual support throughout the course, helping you gain confidence while discovering what inspires you.
All materials are provided, so you can simply turn up and get creative. It's also a great chance to meet like-minded people, share ideas and enjoy a couple of hours each week dedicated to yourself and your creativity. You're welcome to bring a tea or coffee along, and our café is on site if you'd like a pre- or post-class treat.
Previous themes have included:
Still life drawing, watercolour techniques, acrylic painting, lino printing, creative work inspired by our exhibitions, figure drawing, perspective and composition, collage, mixed media, air-dry clay sculpture, painting on canvas and introductory oil painting.
Every course block explores different techniques and creative challenges, giving returning participants plenty of opportunities to learn something new while continuing to develop their skills.

Tickets are available in 5-week blocks, and you're welcome to book onto one, two or all three courses.
Classes take place on Fridays, 10:30am-12:30pm in the Arc Spaces.
